An Unexpected Beautiful Thursday ▪️ May 13, 2021

My days are busy. I have a busy job as in-house counsel at a large health insurance company. I also have a 19-month old son who I adore, and want to give as much time as I possibly can. So most days, I drop my son off at school, work as fast and efficiently as I possibly can (usually with few to no breaks), pick my son up from school, and then we play away the rest of the afternoon and evening. So a day like today, out on the road in the beautiful mid-day sun, is uncommon.

This morning, my son woke up with a low-grade fever. We thought he probably caught the kid virus (think hand-foot-mouth) going around his class at school. I did not want to expose any more more kids, if that’s what he had, so I kept him home. Out of an abundance of caution, I took him to the doctor. I am so glad I decided to visit the doctor!

Last August, my little guy got ear tubes, after eight months of non-stop ear infections. He has been so much healthier and happier since the ear tubes. That scary decision, to have elective surgery for someone so small, was one of the best decisions we have made for our little guy. So imagine my surprise when the doctor told me this morning he does not have the little kid virus going around school, he has an ear infection!

My poor little guy!! We have medication to knock out his infection and to help clear the clogged ear tube that led to yet another infection. As a result of all this, the little man and I have been all over the place in the mid-day sunshine. What an absolutely beautiful day we are having in Middle Tennessee, that I get to spend with my sweet (albeit cranky) little man!
